Background Pricing
Backgrounds are priced per illustration, not per character, so a background for a single illustration, no matter how many characters in that illustration, only incurs one background fee.
Pricing for complex backgrounds, such as those including architecture or other, similarly high-detail elements, will be negotiated with the client prior to beginning work.
Revisions
Each illustration comes with five revisions, typically including 2 sketch revisions, 2 line art revisions, and 1 color revision.
Each additional revision beyond five incurs a fee of 10% of the total price, which the client must pay before receiving the final files.
Payment
I accept payments through invoices via Square. Other invoiced payment options may be negotiated prior to beginning work.
50% of the cost estimate is due prior to beginning the illustration(s).
The remaining balance (including any additional cost incurred for revisions and licensing fees) is due before the final high resolution files are sent.
For larger commissions, an art contract will be attached to the invoice. Paying the deposit and signing the agreement means the client agrees to the terms listed on the contract.
Additional Info
Final deliverables will include a full resolution RGB file prepared for online viewing.
Commissions are for personal, non-commercial use unless discussed beforehand and the appropriate commercial or exclusive use fee paid. Final terms will be outlined in the contract or invoice.
Deadline will be discussed with the client prior to beginning the illustration(s).
I reserve the right to include the illustration(s) in my professional work portfolio, except where applicable for exclusive rights commissions.
In case of failure to complete payment for the commission, all rights to the illustration(s) will fall to me. That means I can use, showcase, sell, and distribute it, regardless of its content.
Personal Use Commissions
The rate sheet listed above is per character, exclusive of background prices.
Personal Use Commissions
Personal Use Commissions are pieces that the client is free to use for non-commercial purposes. The client can print the artwork, show it online (credit is required when possible) and display it as they please.
The sale of any type of material featuring or derived from the commission is not allowed. If the client wants to use the piece commercially after the commission is done, we can discuss and negotiate a fee.
Commercial Use Commissions
Commercial Use Commissions are pieces primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation. Commercial activities include, but are not limited to: merchandise production, images used in films and on TV, streamed shows, in publications that are sold, and online or offline advertisements and commercial promotions.
Using images on or in anything that is created with the intention of making a profit would be considered commercial use.
I maintain ownership of the artwork for my own personal and commercial use and to display it on my portfolio and social media.
A flat percentage commercial use licensing fee will be added to the total price if the artwork is to be used for commercial purposes.
Exclusive Rights Commissions
Exclusive Rights Commissions are commissions that give the client complete ownership of the artwork.
Exclusivity transfers ownership of not just the actual piece of artwork, but all associated rights (the intellectual property) to the client as well.
Only the client is allowed to use and sell the artwork.
Display of the artwork on my social media and for portfolio purposes will be negotiated with the client.
