Usage Rights

How you can use it

Base rate

Personal Use

Print it, post it, use it as your wallpaper. Personal use commissions are yours to display and enjoy for non-commercial purposes.

Credit is appreciated when posting online. Selling anything featuring the artwork — merch, prints, anything — is not permitted under this license.

Want to go commercial after the fact? We can talk.

+60–150%

Commercial Use

For work intended to make money — book covers, merchandise, advertisements, promotional materials, publications for sale.

Single product use: +60% of the commission total. Multiple products: +100–150%, negotiated based on scope.

I retain the right to display the work in my portfolio and on social media.

+200%

Exclusive Rights

Full transfer of ownership — the artwork and all associated intellectual property becomes yours entirely. Only you may use or sell it.

Portfolio display rights will be negotiated individually; in most cases I'd like to at least show it in my portfolio.

This is the option for clients who need total control over the work.

The Process

How it works

01

Revisions

Every commission includes five revisions — typically two at sketch stage, two at linework, and one at color.

Additional revisions beyond the included five are billed at 10% of the total price each, due before the final files are sent.

02

Payment

I invoice through Square. Other payment arrangements can be discussed before we start.

50% deposit is due upfront before work begins. The remaining balance — including any revision or licensing fees — is due before the final high-res files are delivered.

Larger commissions will include a contract attached to the invoice.

03

Deliverables

You'll receive a full-resolution RGB file optimized for online use.

Deadlines are discussed and agreed upon before work begins — I don't promise what I can't deliver.

04

Non-payment

If payment isn't completed, all rights to the illustration revert to me — regardless of content. I can use, showcase, sell, and distribute it as I see fit.

This is not something I enjoy enforcing, but it's the policy.

Terms & Conditions

The fine print

The important stuff, expanded for those who want the details.

Personal use commissions are pieces you're free to use for non-commercial purposes. You can print the artwork, post it online, and display it as you please.

The sale of any material featuring or derived from the commission is not permitted. If you want to use the piece commercially after the commission is complete, reach out and we can negotiate a fee.

Commercial use covers anything primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation — merchandise, films, TV, streaming, publications for sale, advertisements, and any online or offline commercial promotion.

Using images in anything created with the intention of making a profit counts as commercial use.

I retain ownership of the artwork for my own personal and commercial use, and the right to display it on my portfolio and social media.

Exclusive rights commissions transfer complete ownership of the artwork — including all associated intellectual property — to the client.

Only the client is allowed to use and sell the artwork. Display of the artwork on my social media and for portfolio purposes will be negotiated with the client individually.

I reserve the right to include completed commissions in my professional portfolio — on this site, social media, and in print — except where an exclusive rights agreement has been signed.

If your commission is sensitive for any reason, we can discuss how and whether it appears publicly.
